The focus is on story structure, characterization, pacing, and plot development. Themes and big-picture consistencies are looked at. Developmental editing looks at the larger picture of your manuscript to make sure it all flows together seamlessly while communicating your overarching message. This edit comes with an editorial report on the various aspects of your novel to help you map out revisions!
The starting rate for a developmental edit is $.035/word. -
Where the choice and order of sentences, phrasing, and words are keenly looked at to improve the flow and readability of your story. Line editing is about refining your text on a line-by-line, and paragraph-by-paragraph, basis. Line edits include clearing out redundancies or overused phrases, offering rewrites to tighten up your language, removing the unnecessary, and amplifying what’s important. Think of this service as creative or stylistic editing that preserves your voice and elevates your writing—this is TIE’s specialty!

Where glaring errors like misspellings, grammar, verb tense, and punctuation are swept up! This is an in-depth clean-up of your book. This technical edit usually comes after structural revisions or line edits to clarify your writing and message. Light line editing may also be suggested, where sentence structure, consistency, readability, and flow of ideas are examined to present the most impactful language possible. A style guide is included in this service!

Book editing services that are not a part of our signature editing packages are priced per project based on word count, the type of edit, and the degree of work needed.
Sample edits of up to 1,000 words are available for a small fee, dependent upon the type of edit.
